Seth Vyamungu is from Congo. He lived in Tanzania for about ten years. He is a Christian musician and he expects to be a famous singer. He also wants to write poetry and be in movies. Seth speaks four languages: French, Swahili, Kirundi and English.
My dream is to become a poet and to publish a book or books of my own poems.
My life is like a balloon,
sometimes it is full of air,
sometimes it is flat.
I was born in 1993,
the last child of my parents,
before I was born,
my parents went to visit my Uncle
I can say that my life was like a seed
planted inside the moon.
My mother gave birth to me in Paris,
at that time, my life was like a sun,
it appears in the morning,
when the moon hasn’t disappeared,
After five years,
my family returned to Congo
with me ,
now the sun has to suffer,
because I didn’t know
what was happening,
A few years later,
the war began in Congo
the balloon starts to miss
The sun meets the moon,
Bonjour Monsieur, comment allez-vous?
Uvugisha nde! Muriko murarota kumutaga?
Everyone has his own language.
The sun couldn’t understand the moon,
and the moon couldn’t understand the sun.
“What’s the matter with you?”
Both of them say at the same time.
We fled from Congo to Tanzania.
My dad didn’t want to stay there
a long time.
My family speaks Swahili,
and I speak French.
I didn’t know what was going on
with my family.
My dad thought it would
be easier to understand each other
if we moved to the USA,
he said we would be
saving our lives.
The sun and the moon want to hear
what each one of them is saying.
My dad explained what happened before I was born,
it was so terrible.
Now the sun understands what has happened
before it appeared.
